  • VAPOUR Organic Beauty FAQs

    download vapour

Q: I understand that all Vapour products contain a minimum of 70% Organic ingredients. What is the other 30%?
A: The other 30% is reserved primarily for the beautiful mineral pigments that color the products. It also includes Vitamin E, and other beneficial botanicals not yet available with an organic designation. So the other 30% is natural, just not organic.

Q: Will Vapour's oil/wax base make my skin break out?
A: No. Everyone's skin is different, and diet has much to do with the underlying health of our skin. All  Vapour products are designed with non-comedogenic ingredients that are very compatible with the skin. Vapour will not make your skin break out. Vapour doesn’t obscure the skin. Vapour makes it glow!

Q: Do your products contain any nano-particles?
A: No. Your health and safety is Vapour’s highest priority. They do not use any ingredients that could be potentially harmful. All minerals and pigments are cosmetic-grade particle size – much larger than micronized or nano-particles and will not pass through your skin.

Q: Why isn't there any water in the Vapour products?
    A. Water is really important to skin health but not necessarily when applied topically to "moisturize" the surface. You are better off eating moisture-laden fruits and vegetables and drinking your daily 64 oz. of water, and then, locking that moisture in with a plant oil/beeswax based moisturizer like Stratus. Beeswax lets the skin breathe and does not block pores. Vapour plant oil and beeswax base locks in the skin's own moisture and is anti-oxidant and skin softening.

Another important reason that Vapour does not use water is that water is where bacteria grow. By not using water, Vapour does not have to use harsh "killer" preservatives. Water is also a precious resource that should be conserved.

  • The Joy of Tossing: When to Clean Out Your Beauty Products

We all have products and beauty tools that are half used, forgotten or cast aside lurking under the bathroom sink or in a vanity drawer. Products under the bathroom-cabinets-and-shelves

And, even the products and tools we use daily may need an overhaul. But, when is it time to toss out products, clean our tools and refresh our supply? And, why is it so hard to do? It’s quite an investment so we hang on to the products like they're gold. We want to get the very last drop from them and hesitate to throw them out…just in case. But, we need to safe-guard our looks, our eyes and our skin at every age and, especially, as we get older.

Spring and fall are the perfect times to take stock of your beauty products and become aware of the few simple rules to keep your products fresh, safe and effective.

#1: All beauty products expire and can go bad.
As soon as you open a beauty product - even just to take a little sniff – it begins to degrade. That’s because good quality products have active ingredients. The oxygen in the air causes them to degrade.

Plus, heat and humidity promote the growth of mold and yeast. And, where do most of us keep our makeup and skin care? In the Petri dish known as our bathroom! It’s convenient so we do it even though the better place to store them is a cool, dry linen closet or drawer outside the bathroom. Take them out of the bathroom! Your products will be safer and more effective longer.

In addition to oxygen and heat and humidity degrading certain ingredients, every time you touch your make-up or skin care lotions and creams, you transfer germs to them. Make sure your hands and tools are clean. Close the products tightly as soon as possible after use. Keep all products out of the sun or away from heat or cold. Don’t store your skin care in the refrigerator. Constant cold, like heat, degrades your products.

    #2: Expiration Dates
The only beauty products that have official expiration dates by law in the United States are those for acne treatments and sunscreen, as these are deemed drugs. Many US products sold in Europe may have expiration dates but everything can depend on handling, storage and when the product is first opened. So, what can we do? Make our own!

#3: Take Charge of Your Products!

Know the look, feel and smell of your products when new. Be aware of when they were purchased and opened. Mark the date on the product in permanent ink near the Period After Opening (PAO) symbol. This date will be more helpful than the PAO date. To find the PAO: Look at the back of your product for an open jar symbol with a number followed by a capital M.

PAO-Period-After-Opening-Symbol  This PAO symbol suggests how long a product remains effective after opening. It doesn’t tell you when to throw it away, however. That’s why you need to write the “Opened Date” on your product.

#4 Take Charge of Your Beauty Tools

Always check your makeup brushes and tools, too. Brushes should be cleaned regularly, at least twice a month, or more often, with a gentle soap intended for use with your tools. Brushes should be dried in a drying rack facing downward or laid down to air dry with the brush end extending beyond the surface it’s resting on. Don’t let water go down into the barrel of the brush as this will weaken the glue and aid in bacteria growth

The wedge-type, disposable makeup sponges are meant to be thrown away after each use to prevent bacteria growth and possible infection. A non-disposable make-up applicator sponge, such as the anti-microbial Beautyblender™, can be washed after each use with a gentle cleanser. An ideal cleanser is the solid or liquid Beautyblendercleanser™ that's specifically made for gentle, safe cleansing. Any non-disposable applicator sponge including the Beautyblender™ should be replaced after 3-4 months depending on use.

Proper cleaning of your tools will prolong their life. Most good brushes should last a lifetime if cared for properly.

#5: The Beauty Product Tossing Guide:

    • Most skincare products are good for 6 months to a year after opening.
    • Most make-up foundations and concealers are good up to one year.
    • Most powder-based products are good for 2-3 years (as long as you don’t wet them).
    • Most lipsticks, glosses and lip pencils are good for 2-3 years.

The BIG Exception is Eye Makeup:

    • Mascara (regular or waterproof), liquid, pencil or, gel eyeliners are good for 4 to 6 months.
    • If you have sensitive eyes, toss after 3 months.
    • Never keep dried out mascara. And, never add water to extend its life.
    • If you get an eye infection, throw all your eye make-up away. Sorry. No exceptions.

    And, Furthermore:

    • If you haven't used a liquid product in over a year, toss.
    • If it’s expired, toss.
    • If it doesn't look right, feel right or, smell right, toss.
    • If you didn't like it the first time you used it but it was so expensive you can’t seem to part with it, or, you're thinking maybe this eye shadow color will come back into fashion, or, you’re saving it for your mother, etc., etc., etc., … Toss! Toss!! Toss!!!

You'll feel better and it’s better to be safe than sorry!

  • Baby Foot FAQs - Be good to your feet…and they'll be good to you!

Does Baby Foot contain 2 plastic booties for use?
Yes, Baby Foot pack contains a sock for each foot. Suitable for women sizes 4 -12 and men sizes 4-13.
    baby-foot-booties-japanese-exfoliant-natural-kit

    Is Baby Foot re-usable?
    No. It’s “Single Use” only.

Do I need to stay seated while I am using Baby Foot?
It’s best to stay seated as the booties can be slippery. If you must walk, keep it limited. Enhance your experience by adding a pair of socks over the plastic booties and a pair of shoes. As long as your feet are soaking in the gel, you will get results.

Do I wash my feet after the 1 hour treatment?
Yes. After using the 1 hour treatment, remove and discard the plastic booties. Then, rinse feet thoroughly and wash with soap. It's best to sit in the shower or on the edge of the bathtub as you remove the booties. Use caution as your feet will be slippery from the gel.

After my treatment, how do I take care of my feet?
Bathe as usual. After bathing, gently rub your feet with your hands to begin the peeling process. Do not use a foot file and do not add lotion.

My feet are dry. Why can't I use lotion?
Lotion will interfere with the peeling process. If your feet are too dry, you may use a little oil-free lotion from time to time. You may use lotion as you normally would after the process is completed.

Will a daily foot soak accelerate the peeling process?
Yes. It's not required but it will really help.

Can I use Baby Foot when tinea, corns or psoriasis is present?
Baby Foot may be applied when skin conditions like tinea, corns or psoriasis are present. We recommend that you spot test an area to make sure that you don't experience stinging of the skin.

Do I need to use Baby Foot every day for two weeks?
No, only one application is necessary, which involves a one hour soaking time. It may take 3-7 days for peeling to start. The peeling process could take approximately two weeks. (Results will vary between individuals.)

I like having pedicures so why should I use Baby Foot?
Baby Foot is an additional treatment for your feet. We still love to have our toes polished and our feet massaged! Pedicures do not remove the dead layers of skin and the friction caused by scraping the dead skin cells creates a vicious spiral of accumulating more dead skin cells.

My heel is very rough. Is it ok to use Baby Foot?
Baby Foot is widely used by people who experience dry and rough skin on their soles or old, dead skin cells on their heels and toes.

It has been one week since I used Baby Foot, but no dead skin cells have peeled off. How long do they take to peel off?
Results will vary among individuals due to the thickness of the dead skin cells on the soles of the feet. Peeling usually begins within 3 - 7 days, but could be as long as 14 days. Soaking your feet daily will speed up this process. After bathing, gently rub your feet with your hands to begin the peeling process. Do not use a foot file or lotion.

After using Baby Foot, I noticed that I still had some dead skin cells on my soles. When can I use Baby Foot again?
You can use Baby Foot 2 weeks after your initial application.

How often do you recommend the use of Baby Foot?
Baby Foot can be used whenever you notice the buildup of dead skin cells. We recommend using it every 2 months. Remember, each individual timeframe will vary.

Will I experience other benefits by using Baby Foot?
Absolutely. You may experience the following: better balance, increased blood circulation, decrease in foot odor as well as improvement in Athlete’s foot.

Should I remove my nail polish before using Baby Foot?
You do not need to remove your nail polish. However, the fruit acids could possibly dull the polish.

Will Baby Foot fade my tattoo?
Baby Foot is a skin peel, so there is a possibility of fading. Most people, however, do not have a lot of peeling on the tops of their feet.

Can I use Baby Foot on my hands?
Yes, but the peeling will be on the palms of your hands.
