ElementsBeautyShop.com and Elements of Carytown found a gem when we began working with Christina M. Dick of TFB agency and Tiramisu For Breakfast. She has worked to help us grow our social media presence and event planning for the store.
One of the most important things that Christina has done for us is to set up a Blogger program with local bloggers. They have helped us so much by reviewing the products that we sell and letting their readers know about store events.
Christina's Beauty Blogger Campaign was nominated for an award with the the Public Relations Society of America. She won! May 18,2016 she was given the Capital Award of Excellence for her work with Elements Beauty Bloggers. We are so proud to work with such a talented person.

As trees turn from their summer green to the more dazzling colors of fall, websites, retailers and even football teams follow suit by turning themselves brilliant pink to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October.
But, we need to be aware every month of the year.
Awareness is our first important weapon against this dreadful disease. We need awareness to educate ourselves because early detection makes the difference in having a successful outcome. Knowing our family history, doing monthly self-exams from your 30’s on and getting annual mammograms after age 40 are important pro-active and life-saving steps.
Lifestyle can also affect your risk for breast cancer. All the rules for good health apply: Get plenty of rest, stay hydrated, exercise, and wear sunscreen every sunny or partly sunny day of the year. Yes, any sunny day of the year. Limit alcohol, eat a well-balanced diet, don’t smoke and read the labels on your skin care products. Why? Because our skin absorbs over 60% of what we put on it. It stands to reason topical substances will have a direct impact on our skin health as well as on our looks.
Skin Health during Breast Cancer Treatments
Many of us know about the chemotherapy and radiation side effects of nausea and fatigue but don’t realize that our skin can really suffer when we undergo these difficult but life-saving therapies. Chemotherapy causes skin to become very dry and irritated and the target areas of radiation can become red and feel burned.
Patients rate skin irritation and dry skin as their most annoying side effects. These side effects are not just an annoyance. Dry and irritated skin can become inflamed, rash-y, uncomfortable and susceptible to infection. All skin reactions need to be discussed with your healthcare team as most skin reactions are expected and can indicate the therapy is working.
What Can You Do to Ease the Discomfort?
If you don’t have a skin care routine already, it’s a good idea to get one before you start your therapy. A good routine can ease the effects by preparing your skin before, during and after treatment. The number one rule is to be gentle with your skin. Know your ingredients and use the best possible skincare products you can afford. It’s perfectly fine to use over the counter beauty brands as long as they don’t irritate.
Erno Laszlo to the Rescue
When your skin is dehydrated and stressed, it’s recommended you move away from lotions to more hydrating creams and balms. I want to tell you about the Erno Laszlo Phormula 3-9 Collection because this line was specifically created to promote the repair and healing of stressed and dehydrated skin.
The most famous cream in the line is Phormula 3-9 Balm, a rich reparative moisturizer and healing balm. The ultimate remedy for scars, wounds, burns and sun exposed skin, this iconic nourishing balm works to strengthen skin and reduce irritation. Perfected over almost 100 years of research and development, and used in its many iterations by some of the most iconic beauties of the last century including Marilyn Monroe, this highly advanced formula restores skin that is stressed, dulled and dried by lifestyle and environmental factors.
How It Works
Formulated with rich botanical oils and advanced nourishing active ingredients, the 3-9 Balm creates a healing Health Dome™ around the skin to improve oxygenation and reverse dehydration. It’s like a second skin. The formula's smoothing and hydrating properties are effectively and quickly absorbed, boosting your skin's own natural healing properties. It reduces irritation, redness and puffiness. You can use the balm for face and body, as a spot treatment or all over. Use it to treat everything from dry patches to sunburn and to improve post-surgical scars. It’s very effective in treating burns, too and is fragrance free.
What It Does
• Heals: Reduces scarring and helps to heal burns with rich, tropical Tamanu Oil that boosts skin health while soothing irritation and inflammation.
• Restores: Glycosaminoglycans promote collagen production for increased smoothness and elasticity.
• Protects: Rich formula seals in vital nutrients and protects against harsh environment aggressors.

Erno Laszlo PHORMULA 3-9 REPAIR SERUM A Liquid Therapuetic Bandage

Collagen and elastin production is boosted, resulting in greater elasticity, hydration, and evenness of tone. This strengthening formula acts as a liquid therapeutic bandage, gently releasing nutrient-rich active ingredients into the skin to elicit the skin’s natural healing response.

Imagine for a moment the ultra glamorous movie stars and female icons of the 1950’s and 60’s. Such awe inspiring beauties as Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe, Ava Gardner, Grace Kelly and the fiercest of them all Jacqueline Kennedy O’Nassis. Their photos were taken BEFORE the age of air brushing and Photoshop, so when they were having a "bad skin day", well, what was a girl to do? They each owned their own particular brand of beauty, and I want to share with you their secret….Erno Laszlo.
A little history:
In 1921, Erno Laszlo completes his studies in skin pathology and skin disease with Professor Max Joseph, "the father of modern dermatology".
In 1927, Dr. Laszlo heals Hungary's Princess Stephanie of acute acne, restoring her self esteem. He also successfully treats Frida Gombaszogl, one of Hungary's most celebrated actresses after she is shot in the face at point blank range by a rejected suitor.
Encouraged by his successes, Dr. Laszlo opens the first Erno Laszlo Institute of scientific cosmetology in Budapest.
Years later, after opening a skin institute on Fifth Avenue in New York and building a clientele that included Hollywood's most elite, Women's Wear Daily would announce that Erno Laszlo skin care was "in demand" and the most "pivotal line now".
Marilyn Monroe was not only a devotee of the line but also a close personal friend of the Dr.'s. When newspapers around the world carried photos of her death bed, jars of Erno Laszlo Active Phelityl Cream could be seen on her nightstand.
During the 1960's, the list of clients seeking treatment from Erno Laszlo grows to include Jacqueline Kennedy and her sister, and the luminous Audrey Hepburn who is famously quoted as saying "I owe 50% of my beauty to my mother and 50% to Erno Laszlo."
In 2009, Laszlo again revolutionized the skincare market with the introduction of its Firmarine line which contains the super- nutrient algae Spirulina Maxima to firm, nourish and moisturize the skin.
And today, in 2013, the rich tradition continues. The famous Erno Laszlo Institute has re-opened and will also be featuring a display of some of Marilyn Monroe's personal effects, including that iconic jar on her nightstand.
I, personally, have fallen in LOVE with this line. I have been truly amazed by the intense healing power of the 3-9 Formula cream, the Timeless Skin Serum, Hydraphel Day Cream, and one of my favorites, the Phelityl Cleansing Bar. It's soap! Yes, soap. I have always just felt, I don't know, cleaner, when I wash with soap and this bar washes away ALL traces of my make-up so Im not left with those yucky brown streaks on my white towels when I dry my face.
The best news? I am offering FREE skin care consultations with the Erno Laszlo line during January and February. Hopefully you are reading this and live in the Richmond area. If you don't live in the area, don't worry, we aren't leaving you out! A $150 qualifying purchase on the web site will get you a free gift of the Firmarine cream! A $100 value! BUT, not only am I offering the FREE consultation, if you make a purchase of at least $150, I will be giving FREE mini-facials! I give a pretty good facial massage, if I do say so myself! And, if you cant make it by, please feel free to call the shop and ask me any question you may have about the Erno Laszlo line. I'm out to turn you in to a fan just like I am!
